It's amazing. I made the trip home in near-record time. The scary fuel monitor on Bill's Jeep completely freaked me out four miles before the exit I was GOING to take ANYWAY, so there was a little prayin' an' barganin' with " oh, sweet Jesus, just let me get to the Thornton's station and I'll really, REALLY try to be good" and various other attempts to get the gas thing to not leave me stranded on the freeway off-ramp. This morning Bill left for work at 4:45 and with him were six skeins of alpaca that I'd been selfishly hoarding. When purchased I KNEW they should be Rhonda's, as she knits such lovely lace patterns, but I kept holding out... I REALLY wanted the yummy, caramel and toffee colored luvvies for myself. Selfish, rotten knitter. I do hear by swear that I will no longer viciously hoard the stash. Mostly. Unless incapacitated by mental illness or sleep deprivation. And speaking of, I've noticed that my posts seem to be time-tagged at ghastly hours of the morning. That is a falsehood. This bloggy-blog-blog appears to be posted FOUR HOURS before it actually occurs... I just didn't want anyone who knows me to think I was really mentally ill for being able to type before noon. Except today, since I've been up since 3:38 with a sinus headache. I came home last night to the cottonwood and aspen trees pollinating, so today I'm staying in my jammies and I'm knitting the monkey socks, which I fell in lust with in Lex yesterday. Lotusknitter had them at the gathering of the Harlot's faithful. More on the incredible women I met yesterday after the coffee kicks in... and the percocet... and possibly a G&T, if the pain meds don't cooperate.

This is probably the most excited I've been in a long time... I'm off to catch a glimpse of the Yarn Harlot in the wilds of Kentucky. Okay, so Lexington isn't exactly off the beaten path... good thing too, as I had to resort to mapquest to find a route to the convention center. Please, oh please don't let me get lost. I'm rather the sort who gets turned around in parking lots. Parking garages leave me breathless in anxiety, and driving somewhere ALONE for the first time, especially out-of-state is making me nauseous... BUT I'M STILL GOING... do you hear me, Rhonda... and I'm so upset that you have 'morals' and all... (Rhonda refuses to have a "sick day" to come play with me in KY.) So, today I will knit a baby hat of the pink 'Blossom' yarn to give to the hat project, but I'm starting another one for the knit-in tomorrow. Also, I'm headed out to get CHOCOLATE, of the organic variety, for the much beloved Harlot. I will take pictures, that at some point I HOPE to be able to share... and Mom, if you see this post, have VERY much fun on that sickening glass overlook at the Grand Canyon... I'm barfing already (inside) and if you DO get the photo from inside Rushmore, your grandkids will be mightily impressed. Happy trails, to mom, to ME, and to all knitters everywhere. Smoochy kiss... So, here I am, typing at myself again. A grouchy toddler has collapsed on my lap, further hindering my somewhat shaky typing prowess. Early this morning I went into town and came home with my formation documents... I am officially a business. Now what do I do??? Well, it looks like I'm stuck with the italic thing... I told you I was helpless. Setting up accounts happens at the bank later today, then I get to start ordering YARN & FABRIC... then the lovely and talented Megan will help- okay, help doesn't quite go far enough... Megan will assemble the website. Whew. These italics are making me woozey. Shall we look at some pics of THE SOCKS? Okay, obviously I have a LOT to learn about retrieving downloaded photos... at any rate, the Lucky Stripe socks are beautiful, and soft, and oh, SO comfortable. I love the customized pattern, and the two-at-a-time knitting. There WILL be pics posted soon... or I will be forced into stress-eating my weight in dark chocolate until Megan the Wonder Kid can sort this all out. I need to go lie down now, as I'm possibly having a technology-induced aneurysm... coffee... is there coffee?

I don't know why I had to have a blog... actually that's a lie. I've been reading the archives on the Yarn Harlot's blog... you can never have enough Harlot, after all, when it occured to me I might want to respond to some of the other commentors. (I'm STILL seeking the sweater for the 14ths post, btw) There is a title used for some of the other readers/responders and it began to fill me with dread... I did not want to become known as a BLOGLESS Camilla. Yes, I'm in those middle-years (37 last month!) and I did not grow up with a computer in my lap, though I can totally see the benefits, and we've only had a computer for six weeks! Not Amish, we just live in the boonies, high-speed internet will soon be available, and if it weren't for the fact that I do have five kids to homeschool, and knit socks for, I'd be a full-time crazy woman. Last night I picked up a digital camera... it's way smarter than I am at this point, but as soon as I can coerce it into spitting pics back out from whence they are stored, this blog will be way more colorful. Oh, and as I have NO idea what I'm doing, I have Megan. She has a real job... an important one, too... but she has agreed to be my geek for SOCKS!!! and food. I love smartie-pants computing geniuses who will work for KNITTING. Tomorrow I will show you the Lorna's Laces socks I knit two-at-once, toe-up. It was freakishly fun, and at a gauge of 10 sts/inch. I actually wore a hole through my "knitter's callous". But for now, that baby of mine is being sneaky-quiet, so off I go, a blogless-Camilla no more. Knit on, knitters. Camilla
