What a shock to realize my hands don't have a 'slimming angle' to be viewed from. *sigh* Oh well. And as an aside, I came home tonight to a cold AGA... the 'keep filled' order we have with our propane company has, yet again, failed us. The AGA uses gallons of the stuff daily, but no matter what we do (and mind you, we pay this *amerigas* company almost four hundred monthly for the privilege of running out continually) they still can't seem to pull their heads out so they could see daylight. The cloud of funk from the dryer is ghastly. Evidently the 'bottom of the tank' brought forth a bit of carbon as it burned the last gasps of gas (which explains why the burner unit on the AGA won't light) and NOW, readers, I have soot covered clothing... fresh out of the dryer. My pink bra is gray... with grayer streaks. Wanna see?
I realize it's hard to appreciate how dingy and soot covered everything is... but this bra was pale pink. Now it's some weird brown/gray with STREAKS of soot! Gah! I am so having a temper tantrum at those nut-knobs tomorrow. And how to get the weird lighter-fluid smell out of my dryer? Grrrrr. Gotta go now... me and whore-y nails are exhausted and must rest if we are to get people on the rack tomorrow at Ameristupidgas Co. Cami

Best of luck with AmeriGas, Cami. The only method we found that actually worked was to have a BIG HONKIN' tank, and make really good friends with the delivery driver, 'cause he's where the rubber meets the road.
I believe they put some kind of "scent" in the bottom of the tank, so you'll know when you're getting close to running out . . . but I've never seen the soot deal before. That's so annoying! Especially when it ruins your laundry. I've recently ruined some bright-white brand-spanking-new bras, (which are now a dingy light brownish--NEVER trust a black bra . . . even if it's ten years old), and it's so frustrating.

Send the company a bill. Don't make a big deal out of it. Just go to the Microsoft site, download a sample invoice in Word or Excel and fill it out, then send it to them. You may need to call about where to send invoices. If they pay, great, if not, no harm no foul.
I shouldv'e clarified... just to have the burner unit cleaned is an 1800.00 service call, but the tech from KY has retired, so we'll have to use the one fron Chicago. Also, the gas company has done the 'running out thing'to us so often, I was told by the AGA service guy if it happened again, we'd probably have to replace the burner unit and firebox... it's over five grand, plus labor. And freight from England. In perfect usage, AGAs can go 20-25 years without ever needing a repair, but you can see what I'm up against. I've decided to ask nicely for them to replace the clothes, have the dryer cleaned or replaced, and cover all costs towards restoring the AGA, in addition to paying for our family of 7 to eat hot food until the cooker is fixed. I'll be getting my lawyer up to speed later today... (he's passed some special bar exam to try cases in the Supreme Court, and he writes legalese for legislation; he's Bette's hubby.) The gas company better bring it, because I'm out for someone's hide this time. Cami
Oh how frustrating. I'm with you though. I'll just say - that's why I only heat with gas, nothing that has to be filled into a tank and continually replenished! Not for me.

I have to be honest with you...I have no idea what an AGA is....but best of luck getting everything fixed. I don't know about you but I HATE dealing with companies for home repairs. They charge an arm and a leg for doing almost nothing. GRRR. So...good luck with you AGA whatsamawhozzit.
I'm with Stephanie. Don't quite understand, but it sounds frustrating and expensive. I hope it works out.
